The SMAW NC II Core Competency: Weld Carbon Steel Plates and Pipes Using SMAW course provides learners with the practical skills and technical knowledge required to perform quality welds on carbon steel materials using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding process. This course focuses on preparing trainees for real-world applications by emphasizing safety, precision, and adherence to industry standards.
Learners will gain competence in setting up SMAW equipment, selecting appropriate electrodes, interpreting welding symbols, and executing welds in various positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead) on both plates and pipes. The course also highlights the importance of weld quality inspection, proper joint preparation, and the application of occupational health and safety practices.
Upon successful completion, participants will be able to carry out welding operations on carbon steel plates and pipes confidently and competently—qualifying them for job opportunities in construction, manufacturing, metalworks, and related fields.
